What do I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move about in. Layers are also a good idea as it can get very hot. Shoes that are non stick are best.

Ladies, flat shoes or pumps are usually the best. We know they look good, but high heels can be quite uncomfortable to dance in, and may even cause you, or someone else, to get injured.

West Coast Swing is also a "heel lead dance" which means it will be harder to articulate the the rolling foot movement in a high heel.

Men, heavy boots or shoes with very rigid soles can be quite restrictive. Trainers that don't have much grip or canvas shoes are great for dancing in.

Do I need a partner?

You don't need to bring a partner, but we love it when you do. We rotate in our classes so that everyone gets to dance. This way is also proven way to help dancers learn faster. West Coast Swing is a social dance. It is a lead and follow dance, so it's best to dance with lots of people of different levels.  This means you'll also get to meet lots of lovely people.

What's the general age?

Actually, there isn't really a general age! We have students from 16 years of age, all the way to people in their 70s and beyond. Dancing not only keeps the body fit, but recent studies show that dancing also promotes positive mental health.......some studies even claim it makes you smarter!

Do I have to sign up for a term and pay up front?

No! You can just show up to class and pay on the door each week. If you are a bit savvy with your precious pounds, and let's face it, we all try to be, you can purchase a loyalty card that will get you 6 classes for the price of 5. You can even share your card with your bestie.
